It has been what... 2 months now since my computer died on me. At first I thought it was my Video Card, turns out the Motherboard gets power but doesn't output any data anywhere. Luckily I just got a new job so once I catch up on bills I am building a new computer and can get back to real gaming (sorry console people, but the PCs are still king of the games).

Right now I am planning on doing Quad Core (can't believe I am choosing a quad chip over a dual chip so early, but monetary reasons are forcing me to). Eventually I want two dual GPU vid cars (4gpus total :)), 64-bit Windows 7 of course, with 8gb ram, unless they finally have updated bios to raise the ram limit.

Champions Online and a few other games I want to get my hands on right away when I can. Probably OF 2 or ArmA 2. CoD 4 *2 (aka: CoD 6) coming out soon, I wonder if I will max out my level on first day like CoD 4. That said, For those playing Modern Warfare on the consoles... I am sorry. Not only does the PC version have about 3 times the amount of maps within 2 months of release, but more custom game modes, real HC mode, better netcode, better graphics, much much larger player base, and more people per game.

That said... the greatest FPS of all times, TRIBES, how I wish they'd bring back TRIBES (the original of course). Give it a graphical overhaul and leave it at that. Not only did you have a ton of people per server, but little to no lag, and every server had different host-side mods so you always had new weapons and armours, etc... Modding games, and online gaming netcode wouldn't be what it is today without TRIBES showing people how to do it.

Finally, anyone from the St. Louis area? Once I am back up on my feet, I'd love to find some local-ish people to game with. My fiance` limits her gaming to Street Fighter II Turbo (which I am willing to bet she will kick your ass in), some random SNES and Wii games, and Castlevania and some DS games. I miss having lan parties, and just playing with people who aren't complete strangers.

Nice, hopefully I'll be joining you with getting a new PC soon...but I need to wait on a few things for now. Mine is getting old and in a crashy stage...likely hardware related.

lol at tribes. That was a great game years ago. I haven't played it in so long though...probably middle school computer club, heh.
Goodluck on that build man, going AT* or Nvid**? Got one im about to post myself, so thanks for the inspiration for a new post :D

Btw, BIOS doesn't determine the RAM limit, OS & Hardware does...
@stukinit Back in the day I was Voodoo cards. Then ATI. However at the time I built my last computer (May of 07') Nvidia had more power stock on their cards (8800 Ultra I have). I was gonna go with Nvidia again, but going with ATI, I can have 4gpus :)

In regards to the RAM limit, boards even from 2 years ago have a lower ram limit in their BIOS. I am waiting for them to lift the 8gb limit on 64-bit Vista, however since I am going with Windows 7, I am wondering if they lifted the limit for it, then its a matter of the Motherboards letting their bios recognize more than 8gb.
So then... if i understand this correctly, your point is that 64-bit computing with the ability to address well over 1TB of ram is not able to handle more than 8GB's of System RAM. And that it is the Board AND Vista that are limiting the total allocatable RAM to 8GB's.

Currently Vista Business and above can support ~128GB of total RAM, so yes you are right that some boards can only support 8GB of ram, but it is the Board limiting the RAM, not Vista or Win7.

Phew... that was a lot of work... gonna take meeself a break now
The problem is normal consumer boards (at least up to like a year and a half ago) wouldn't support more than 8gb for 64 bit and 3.?? gb for 32bit. I thought this was still the case. Either way I'm going 64-bit Intel with Windows 7 with a touch screen, and using my Nvidia 8800 Ultra till' I can afford to dual dual gpu Radeons.
